A new body of work emerges out of the desire to explore and express ideas. I wanted to return back to the nude because I wanted to see if I could do a better job of it than I has done before. I wanted to make a series of paintings that were visually exciting, that married ideas about painting and mimesis. I wanted to explore some new ways of working, namely working with much thinner oil, using wiping as a means of creating light and really pushing my concern with limited palette.
What I posting is the first stage of a painting that will no doubt change, but I think I need the space to ponder these images and allow them to grow
